Assuming you have an automatic transmission, there is a hole in the firewall on the driver's side, and it is on the firewall and up fairly high, so it is relatively accessible.

I left the factory plastic blanking cover/plate intact, and just drilled a hole into it using a right-angle drill and one of those conical stepping drill bits so I could get the desired hole diameter (don't recall it offhand) without using a hole saw or changing the bit a bunch of times.

I placed a rubber firewall boot in the hole, knowing this might not be the last cable I need to pass through the firewall and into the cab: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051ZG5K8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I brought my (switched - I will have to go check the fusebox to see which circuit I ended up using) 12v lead through the boot and into the cab. The 12v lead is soldered to one of those "add a circuit" fuse taps for ease of installation and security/safety of the connection: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZGA8O8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will not make an automotive electrical connection without using a soldered joint, and when I am finished with the connection, I wrap in electrical tape first, then heat-shrink over the top just to be sure it is waterproof, etc. YMMV.

With the power lead inside the vehicle, I added my own fuse block and stowed it underneath the cupholders, just ahead of the center console in that fairly spacious area to hide connections and gear: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000THQ0CQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (again, with extra capacity - thinking about future connections)

I then ran a blendmount hardtap power cable from the detector, tucking it into the headliner, down the A pillar and under the dash, routing it to the center console fuse block I installed: https://www.blendmount.com/mirrortap.html (I could have tapped power at the mirror, but chose not to because of the complexity of the connection and the limited area to work in there - I have had varying degrees of success with the mirror tap connectors, depending largely on the specific vehicle, type of mirror, etc).

In the engine bay, I covered all new wires I ran with PowerBraid: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N8IR2W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This gives a clean, almost OEM look to the wiring. Using it with zip ties and Tesa Tape: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EH6IZ6Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    really keeps it neat.

I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have other questions.

If the speed limit is 70 I drive 75 I know everyone pass me on the interstate all the time. I am ok with this. Being old is no fun. I have a CB and a fuzz buster that I use when my wife not with me. All she say is slow down all the time.

Florida has 4 of the 5 deadliest highways in the country. So state troopers are out there trying to reduce that recognition.

It's easier to run a switched power feed off the cigar lighter in the cab. This is the recommended location to tap inside the cab for switched power according to the Ram Bodybuilders guide published by Ram. I did a write up with pictures on mine over on another site for grabbing switched power for my plow controller. I can post it on here if you are interested.

You guys do know that a savvy officer will set with the radar turned on and the antenna off. As soon as he sees you he flips the antenna on, locks you in and turns the antenna back off. You're done. Also I can almost guarantee if he sees a detector in your truck you will get a ticket vs. just a warning. Just food for thought:)

Explain high horse to me, better yet explain why you need to go over the posted speed limit, and put the law abiding ones in danger. We see it everyday, some jackass weaving in and out of traffic going at least 10-15 over.

We have some 80 mph stretches in Utah on I15, go 80 ,and see how many pass you like you are standing still . You would think 80 would be sufficient . Its apparent its not fast enough.

My detector has saved me $1000's. It turns on when the Ram turns on.

Since you asked for an explanation about high horse first, here you go. According to Webster's, "high horse" - an arrogant and unyielding mood or attitude.

I never said I needed or that I wanted a detector to drive over the posted limit. I commute 150 miles, one way, several times a month. I drive with the flow of traffic, often times traveling 5 or so, over the posted 70. Every day I see a number of people driving well over that. In most cases, 5 over won't attract any attention, but every once and awhile it will get you stopped. I simply want to avoid that and want to know when I'm being checked.

A much bigger danger is the jack *** that decides he will regulate everyones speed and sets his/her cruise at the posted limit and parks in the left lane, also known as the passing lane in Washington. Which happens to be against the law too.

    C,mon fess up...do you drive a Prius?

radarbusters.com is a great place to research and buy from. I am not affiliated with them in any way. I purchased the Radenso XP and so have four friends. They work very well!

I've been on the local vol fire co for over 30 years. I've pulled more dead bodies out of vehicles or the woods than most people have ever seen. None of those people died because they were going 10mph over the posted limit. Speeding tickets in that range are nothing more than a tax on driving. And out of state drivers pay the majority of that tax.
