Largest Tire to clear in front with stock suspension.

I was going to remove my 2 inch level kit to return my 2017 3500 to stock up front for the purpose of carrying heavy camper and allowing it to squat more into my leafs, etc. I have 295/65-20 that clear fine now and have had 35s in the past. I have heard that dropping the truck two inches although it seems straight down will actually shift the front axle back forward to its normal position. It does seem that my connecting rod frame to sway bar up front is tilted rear an inch so perhaps the lift did move the axle back that much.

My tires are pretty new so dont want to replace also picking up a set of 19.5 with 245/70 tires which are 1 inch in diameter shorter but will these hit as well......

I have heard some get by with 35 inch tall stock but the tire guy wasnt so sure we would make it and then I am paying to put them back in again

Some trim the front splash guards as well but I would love not to have to do this.

 

Everything depends on your wheel offset but I had a friend run 295/70-18 on stock wheels with no clearance issues. The 245/70-19.5 are about an 3/4" shorter so should clear fine.

 

I know many people running 37's on stock suspension and can be done on stock wheels with a high clearance sway bar and radius arms. Spoke to thuren rep. He thinks my 295/65-20 will clear with the positive offset the stock rims have and my 19.5 even with 0 offset are 2 inches shorter so they should work. fingers crossed. Now i need to find out if I should put TPMS in my 19.5 and what brand, heavy duty valve stem that can handle 110-120. Started a separate thread on this to get opinions

 

I have a leveling kit on the front of my 2011, and am running 35x12.50x20's...i am not sure what the offset of my rims are, but they rub when making a sharp turn or turning and flexing the suspension at the same time.

 

I have 295/70-18 (34.5" dia) Cooper AT3 (4000# load) on Method wheels. The wheels are 1" wider at 9" and have the 18mm offset. Excellent forged aluminum rims with a 4500# rating and a bead retention rib that allows low pressure without worry. Clears easy. Another thing - the spare tire location will take 34.5", but no bigger.

 

Update, took off 2 inch level kit to get back to stock. Have 295/65-20s and at full lock they rub a little. Leaving it as is and next set of tires will be slightly shorter. My 19.5 with 245/60 should clear better as they are 2 inches shorter.

 

Where do they rub? Can you just trim a little plastic or bend a bit of pinch seam?

 

sway bar and control arm I think its called at full lock. Normal driving doesnt hit. Clears fender and splash guard fine.

 

If that is the only rubbing I wouldn't even worry about it other than it is annoying when it happens, especially with Mud tires.

 

Now if I can just figure out what valve stem and TPMS to get for my 19.5s and if the truck can read pressures up to 110-120. Its amazing how difficult it is just to find the bore size of the Vision wheels then info on what sensor. Once I get the bore correct from Vision Im going to call Dill and discuss with them. But I would think there are others with 19.5s running 100 plus psi that would know

 

OEM valve stems. They work on 4500/5500, so they will work for you and the pressures you will see.

 

Sensors are 433Mhz / 434Mhz frequency to be able to use the factory system. The difference between the two was for the duallys. I've found 433 in both on drivers rear and they were showing correctly. Not sure if it really matters?

 

I’m actually surprised it rubs without the lift vs with it. Those places aren’t effected by a level kit.
