I called 3 different vendors trying to get their best recommendation for a turbo for the way I use my rig. Towing a TT weighing 11,000lbs, vehicle speed is 65mph and turning 1875rpm.

    #1 - PDR

    Recommended their PDR35/14

    #2 - HTT

Recommended I send in my current turbo and get the stage III upgrade with the 60mm inducer

    #3 - Industrial Injection

    Recommended their 62/12 Phat Shaft

So my question is has anyone had any experience with any of these turbos with a similar setup as mine?

#2 should be cheaper (I run the 57/12) unless you have an HY, then go for the 62/12 if you can afford it. the 35/14 would spool too slow for towing and boost will top out at 35psi where the 62/12 should bury your boost guage and leave you room for more fueling, should the need arise.

The pdr35/14 will be great for your application... ... ... ... . do not go too big and regret it. No lag pigs for me :-laf

I'm in sort of the same situation. However, I went WAY to large (read that lag) on the turbo. Now it is time to rebuild the turbo - suggestions?

DD2's, ATS manifold, 4" exhaust, tow 14k 5er at 65 mph (4. 10 diff) 2000 rpm. However, my way to big KSB1-B does not spool until about 1800 rpm. I have enough hp to do what I want to do so larger sticks / box is probably not it. I rarely would ever have the rpm > 2400 (like probably never) so am looking at a 1200 - 2400 rpm range for the turbo. My max boost now is 32# and I rarely go much over 25#.

Turbo suggestions? I have been looking at the HTB2 62/12 or something 62/12 ish.

HTT will upgrade (rebuild the center section and change the front end and rear end) my KSB1-B to "whatever" for a good price. Question is what is "whatever"?

That's what I have now and it runs too hot. I was told by someone from one of the 3 company in the OP, can't remember who, that if you go much over 1100° for any length of time it is not good.

I dont like turbo lag MORE than I like having lots of top end power.

I would sacrifice the top end anyday to have a smooth off the bottom running truck. That is why Im still either contemplating going with the PDR35/12, HTT, 35, or just keeping the stock HX35.

Have found that while running the new Amsoil Nanofiber 4510 air filter, with these smaller injectors and stock turbo, this truck spools very quick & smooth off the bottom. Its a real pleasure to drive without any of that surging, bucking, etc that it had some of before with higher HP components. Plus fuel mileage is coming back up again.

Granted it wont rip up the long grades pulling heavy like some can do with the big turbos do, but I dont have the desire to do that anyways. Too much stress on the truck, and dont feel safe driving fast pulling heavy anyways.

I agree with ya PRout. 65mph is the max I will tow, it starts getting windy enough to push the trailer around I'll slow down. I'm looking for the best turbo for engine rpm's around 1600 - 2200. I especaily don't want to be pulling the passes in CO. having to run 65 - 70 just to keep on top of the turbo.

I have been told that the HX35 is a solid turbo, what about putting a 14cm housing on one? Anyone ever done it? I will be looking turbo options soon due to future mods I am planning.

But you have the sticks to turn that big turbo, only have the stage 1's.

With Jammer 1's I do not think you will light up the PDR35/14 at that low of RPMs. That's what Mark and PDR told me. I would stay with the HX35 you have or send it to PDR and have them turn it into a PDR35 at a reasonable cost. Put on a boost elbow and set it to 29-32 lbs of boost and tow up to 1250 pre turbo and enjoy.

I switched from a HY35 to PDR35/12W and it tows nicely with Jammer 1's and Comp in EZ mode. I will be leaving on a 7 week trip in early Sept and will be able to give you more feedback. Going thru the Western States with lots of Mountain passes.

Remember you read about all the people that towed great with RV's and HX35's stock and then slipped down the slippery slope. SNOKING

SNORKING, I would really be interested in your real world experience with the setup you have. Yours is very similair to what I have, except for the gear ratio.
