time to pop the cherry on my 2019! I picked it up on July 31 and am up around 800 miles on it. Leaving southern CT for Old Orchard Beach ME in about an hour. Previously we have towed all over the northeast with the OL 96er regular cab. With the addition of a baby girl in Dec. we needed a quad cab so we didn’t have to take 2 vehicles to the campground trips we do during the year. Anyhow I got the WD hitch setup the other day, from my 2500 96 to the new suspension with coil springs I did have to add 3 washers to the hitch head to get the same amount of weight distributing but who knows if that’s because of hitch height, etc. anyhow will post a trip report later but am excited to see how the new mill runs!

So, made it in a hair over 4 hours. Still got a bit of a grin on my face of how pleasant the ride and power is improved over the ‘ol 96er. Ran a regen that went for 19 miles, never dealt with that on the dirty dozen that’s for sure. Looks like I got about 12.5 mpg doing around 70. Used about 1/8th tank of DEF. the exhaust brake and shift strategy in tow haul is also amazing.

When we got our 2016 I was amazed how I could now hear my wife talking to me! Also towing seemed more stable, better brakes, etc.

At times I still miss the old rattler.

Nice truck and combination. I also sold my old regular cab for a 4 door when the kids came along. The memories you will make with your kids will make you forget all about that old truck very quickly.

Here she is up in the white mountains of New Hampshire during a trip last year. I’m the 2nd owner, first owner was a TDR member as well. The 12v always got the job done, a little less frills but I could fix just about anything wrong with it by carrying a screwdriver and 8-14mm sockets lol! Only on hot days pulling a grade I’d watch the temp gage get a bit warm. She has 155k on it. Lightly bombed and body’s not too bad. I’m very on the fence about shipping it down the road.

When did these trucks start advising about regeneration?
