I am hoping that in the next couple of months I will have the money for a turbo upgrade. Mods are in the sig and the truck must be capable of towing 15-18k whenever needed. I haven't had a chance to tow with the 4" exhaust yet but with the stock exhaust and no muffler, pulling a 24' gooseneck cattle trailer and 5 1200lb cows I was limited to around 55 mph in direct just to keep EGTs in control. I may in the future go up a step in injectors whenever I have to replace the stock clutch which somehow hasnt slipped yet. I would also like to be able to accelerate from 60-85 mph to pass someone without seeing 1350 on the pyro. I was considering a stock s300g but dont think the 12 exhaust housing is big enough. How about a 62/14 size turbo? This would be able to maybe even allow me to use the comp some while towing and while empty with the comp on 5x5 keep the top end cooler as well?

    Thanks,

    Blake

The 14 will be on the laggy side. I would think that the 62/12 would be alright for what you plan on doing. I got a sps 62/14 and I am in the neighborhood of 500 hp. Jammer 2s and a comp should put you around the 375 range... . with a good turbo. Think of where you want to be before you buy a turbo.

I've tried 5 different turbos 62/12, 62/14, 64/14, 64/12 & now the SS62 which is best by far for towing. I would recommend a Super Stock 62 from High Tech to anyone who tows heavy. I tow 15k daily & love this turbo. The Super Turbos just cool way better & spool way faster from 10psi to peak boost... . which is where you need the fast spoolup when towing heavy. If you don't want to spend the extra $300 for the SS62... . My next choice would be the 62/12.

I have tried the 10 holes [200hp] Dragon Flows & they were great... . now I am running the 4 flows [150hp] & they are even better... . cooler egts & less smoke. You will like the SS62 turbo... . it spools well with even a set of RV275 injectors. The best mods that I've done for towing is the SS62, Smarty, Exhaust Brake.

    The S300

turbo is a great turbo no matter what name you buy it under. But for drive ability plus since it is pretty much a straight up bolt on I like the Dodgezilla, but everyone has their opinion. If you got questions I got a toll free number and Jason, please feel free to use them both.

    hope this helps

Super Stock 62 from High Tech turbo and a set of mild 85-90 inj's and you'll have a fantastic towing setup - good cool power.
