Anyone tried this yet or am I going to be the guinea pig?

Truck is a worn out 05 with 250k miles on the truck. One of the first G56 trucks produced. It has had a hard neglected life. When I drained the trans the fluid it was black and there was a generous amount of metal on the plug. It still had the dual mass clutch, which is now in the scrap pile, and a regular flywheel and clutch is on my rebuilt engine. I don't expect this trans to make it to long, but you never know.

I already have this stuff around, it works outstanding in my high mileage work car. So I was thinking fill the G56 to capacity with ATF+4, then dump 1 quart of this down in through the tower.

Also keep in mind I live in the coldest part of the lower 48 so 50w is not an option.

    Thoughts?

The chatter of the G-56 with a smf clutch might demand a thicker fluid. Mine with ATF+4 sounded like a rock crusher.

Ya I was hoping the Lucas would take care of that. It's pretty darn thick, thicker than 50w for sure.

Don't want anything that is too slippery. You want the synchros to work.

Don't have 50w or Synchromesh. The main reason for attempting this was I have a 5 gallon bucket of ATF+4 and plenty of the Lucas. I'm going to try it, on this transmission I really don't think I have anything to lose. When it fails I'm going for the NV5600.

You got the full life from your G56, get a rebuilt G56 with the AD gearing you have now. Have you just replaced the DMF with a SMF? If so your G56 is going to sound a lot noisier than it has, and seem like it’s worn out. Go with a 50wt (my favorite is Mobil Delvac synthetic 50wt trans fluid, and keep the G56 until it toast.
