New 2022 2500

Looking at a new 2022 2500. Some questions/comments for those in the know...

1. Any issues with 22's? Problems with pump fixed?
2. If I read correctly you can't get the HO 6.7 unless you get a 3500?
3. It has the 3.73 rear end. Was not an option for my 2017...3.42 was it.
4. I does not have the 5th wheel puck option. But was going to ask if they can put one in.
5. Rear end set as high as the older (17) models?
6. They still come with the 68rfe trans? Aisin with the HO?

4. I does not have the 5th wheel puck option. But was going to ask if they can put one in., I added them to my 2015. I believe 2500 are easier to add, bed does not have to be lifted.

I remember reading that as of the 2019 model there were a lot of improvements to the truck.

• Ride is suppose to be better
• Anyone know if MPG is better/worse compared to earlier models? I see over 20 mpg hwy, around 15-16 around town, 10-13 towing on my 2017.
• Would it be worth the upgrade?

 

B&W has a companion hitch setup that works great for trucks that don't have the puck system.

 

Pucks alone are most likely about the same price as the goose ball hitch, and then your hitch weight is riding on the trucks frame and not the floor of the bed.

mileage will likely be the same as your current truck providing you have / keep the same driving habits.

 

I went from a 2018 to a 2022, both HO 3500's with auto level.

No real reason for ride to be any different on the 2500's. There are minor differences in the auto-level programming, but ride is generally the same.

My MPG is on par with my '18 and my '05 for the same load. Don't trust your overheard, be sure to hald calc for a real comparison.

I think it was. I got more on trade than I bought my '18 for and got a great deal on the '22 by ordering it. Nothing was wrong with the '18, but the '22 is better. Active noise control, 3.37's, more torque, etc... no complaints in my first 9K miles.

 

Lots of talk about AISIN failures in the 22's on the other Forum.

 

You can't get an Aisin in a 2500.

 

I love my aisin 3500 ho

 

13 k the tow haul mode and exhaust brake are just awesome

 

K1 snap ring failure in the 22 aisins, also a big grid heater controller recall, stop sale in effect from dealerships.

 

Not sure why the 22 would be higher failure because the same PN transmission is used in 19-22. But based on demand there appears to be more 19-22 failures than 18 and older trucks. My best guess if the K1 snap ring is the failure point, an improperly manufactured or heat treated snap ring. Perhaps the snap ring supplier changed for 22?

 

What is the snap ring failure ? Never heard of this before please explain

 

So dealer that have effected grid heater trucks can’t sell them. Wonder how many that is?

 

From what I have read there was either a supplier change or design change midway thru the 22 production year. Most the failures were built in June or later, with very few occuring before that.

 

My truck was built August of 2021 and delivered Nov 5 th 2021 so I should be ok I think

 

That makes sense, supplier change or new batch of suspect snap rings.
