So the other day, I get a letter saying the fix was available and to make an appointment to have this issue resolved.

Initially I was happy as a clam!

So I made the appointment and brought the truck in.
Next day I get a call that it will take 1-2 weeks to get the parts.

So this gives me time to ask, what is the solution to the CP4 problems?

Are they going to put the CP3 in like they did after discovering the CP4 was not designed for domestic fuel?

Does anyone have access to the recall instructions at a tech level??

    Thanks
    L

Read it all, and maybe I'm dense, but do we get a modified CP3, stock CP3, or a modified CP4???

I like to know what is happening to equipment I paid a ton of money for, as I'm sure every TDR member does as well

    First post of that thread.
You get a CP3. Why would it be modified?

    Everyone is calling it a CP3, but it’s actually a CP-ISB21.

It’s certainly not the same CP3 that was used in 07.5-18, so in a sense it is modified, but really just upgraded and modernized. No different than the current 6.7 still being an ISB, but it’s not the same ISB from 2003.

I was under the impression that the cp3 that had been in use for so long, is tapped out at 23k-26k pressure.

The new spec required 30k to meet emissions.

Since they are now using the higher pressure cp3 in 21+ Trucks, it must have been modified to be able to meet the pressure requirements.

I’ll feel a heck of a lot better when this is finished.

See my post directly above yours, is not a CP3 as we know it.

Yes that’s what I was alluding to.

I was trying to explain what I meant by “modified CP3”.

a post a little higher questioned what I meant.

It’s all good, or soon will be.

    From the recall.

The PCM MUST be programmed with the correct calibration
to support the new High Pressure Fuel Injection Pump. If the correct
PCM calibration with CP3.3 description is not showing in wiTECH, STOP
    and contact Star.

Too bad we didn't know then what we know now. We did note that the new pump was lighter and cheaper!

We are going to try for a reunion in 2023.

So, anyone had this recall done without a cratered CP4?

    Just wondering what to expect.

I read that trucks that had this done are quieter (Real Trucks Rattle!)

But otherwise no drivability or power difference .

I hope to get the truck back for the weekend so I can really drive it and learn the potentially new characteristics after the pump and reprogramming.

Truck was in since yesterday, and it’s not even been put in the shop.

Doubt I will have it for the weekend.
But for the CP3…. I’ll wait!!!

Ever since the whole CP4.2 fiasco, I have felt like doom was right around the corner.

If it failed, I’m not sure I trust the dealer to adhere to the entire procedure to clean and replace nearly the entire fuel system!!!

I would get it repaired and put a for sale sign on it and order another.
Just so many places for that metal to go!
