Has anyone seen a cat converter on the first 98. 5 24v trucks? Repair manual says there is but I've never seen it.

No 2nd gen 24 valves ever had Cats in any states. Many have mistaken the resonator for a cat.
The 12 valve 98's did have cats in the smog states

I dont what it was cat/resonator but what ever it WAS on my 04. 5 got cut off and had a header flange put on it and a piece of exhaust pipe so if needed I could reinstall the POS. It might and probably is my imagination but I THINK IT RUNS BETTER WITHOUT IT.

Not much of a diff, except maybe egt. In my dyno testing a 12 valve lost about 4-8 hp. that much diff is about a margin of error (Truck was at the 400 hp level)
