On my new to me 3rd gen 2005 truck, a while back when I first got it, I put a short extension on the stock blowby hose so any drips of oil would not dump on the front 4x4 differential, like a 2nd gen truck

I was lying under the truck doing something and noticed the blowby hose was still clean and dry inside. I havent driven the truck alot yet but expected to see at least some oil moister inside the hose

I know my 3rd gen has a better blowby recirculation system (well the 2nd gen has no recerulation), and my newer truck looked like the crank case breather filter on the valve cover was new when I checked it a couple months ago.

Is that standard 3rd gen dodge cummins to not have any oil moister at all exiting the blowby down tube?

Yes the 3rd gens are different from the 2nd gens. They use a simple CCV separator that drains almost all of the wet oil back into the engine and only a bit of blow by gets by when it is operating correctly.

Yes, very little blow by and only a drop of oil every couple thousand miles usually.
The CCV filter is s wear part and should be replaced if there is more then just a drop of oil.

And yes it is a filter in there, you can see it in the picture, the white fabric behind the little holes.

    cool

Looks like that dried oil crud that I cleaned off of my front 4x4 differential housing when I got the truck wasnt from the blowby hose above, but a bit of a leaky pinion yoke shaft seal
