The recommendation is plainly stated in the owner's manual.

Have no idea what specific page it's on, but it is in there somewhere.
Takes all the guesswork and opinion out of it.

IIRC though, it takes ATF+4 just like the 68RFE.
But, look it up to verify.

The 2500’s and 3500’s have spec’ed the BW44 fluid since 2013 at least...

That's why I suggested he verify what it takes.

Amsoil Universal Automatic Transmission fluid is what I put in my 1500 transfer case. It meets the specs required from what I read. Less $ per quart too I believe.

I also use Amsoil ATF. It has the part number for BW44-44, 68089195AA, on the bottle.

It’s in the owners manual too, page 618 of my 2018 manual.

Along with everything that has been posted......I did heed the suggestion of @jhenderson and have been running Dexron VI from O’Reilly Auto in my 2018 4500. I have always changed it at the same interval as my transmission sump filter interval (60,000 miles plus or minus) and it is still doing great; clicked over 286,000 miles just yesterday. Going off memory....the Dexron VI at O’Reilly is about $7.99 per quart.

I use the AMZ/OIL Signature series ATF in my AISIN and TransferCase.
