Wow....this is crazy.

I don’t disagree with anything said especially the weld lack of penetration. Or that it shouldn’t have failed with those skids on it. Was just pointing it out.

I own 2 dc trailers. A10k dumper as well as an LPX equipment trailer at 14900 gvw it is an 18 footer. Both of them are bumper pulls. A bit short but the spaces I have to take it in make anything larger much harder to deal with. Mine don’t get used on a daily basis like a commercial outfit would do but so far so good. Will definitely be paying more attention to them

 

There are two separate welds and 3 parent pieces there. The right hand weld had no penetration to the center parent piece of stock. Urine poor welding, and I would also say not a great design either. I would have preferred that a highly stressed joint like that only have two parts to it.
