Hello all, I did a little searching, but hoping someone could point me in the easiest troubleshooting and removal of my drivers power seat. It's a 06 megacab SLT. I have only had forward/backwards for awhile, none of the tilts move anything, but can hear the motors running. So, I had it detailed and the guy ran it all the way forward to vacuum and you guessed it, stuck all the way forward! I know Genos sells the motors once I determine what I need. I guess I'm asking the easiest way to access under the seat. The 4 bigger bolts look like they tie in under the center console. The other 4 that go through the seat tracks from the bottom, possibly a better option? Thanks for the help!

The back ones are super easy. The front ones are harder to get to - I had to raise the seat up to get in there.

PS - I was able to fix one of my motors with just the seat removed, did not have to take the frame out of the truck. Also, you will have to remove the plastic cover from the seat controls on the side and remove two screws and the control panel slides down out of the seat if I recall correctly. I also had to disconnect my seat heater wire(s)

I'm not sure if the video posted but I finally got everything exposed under my drivers seat. The issue was originally the seat went all the way forward and wouldn't go back. ( where the track is now). The other motors were running but not moving anything. On the forward/ back motor you can see it engaging briefly and moving the seat forward a short distance and back the same amount. If the gears were stripped, wouldn't the motor just freewheel? And why aren't the other motors moving anything? I can't believe all 3 motors are bad. I don't want to start throwing parts at it. Any additional help is appreciated!

Depends, its a worm drive system so a small area can fail and it'll move until it encounters a gap then stop. I had 2 fail on my 04, no rhyme or reason, worked one day then not the next. Geno's kits work very well and are not to difficult to install.

Thanks! Genos kit consists of the motor, which comes with new gears?

I didn't see a video, but to answer your question, yes, the Geno's unit comes "complete" - just remove the pins from the old one (1-3 of them) and replace it with the new one. Hardest part is getting the roll pins out of the old unit.

There's a YouTube video I shared recently where a guy was able to easily repair an existing motor without having to replace it.

I had an issue a few years back with the power seat in my 2003 2500 reg cab. The buttons would intermittently work, some wouldnt work, then one day when I had the seat all the way forward of course nothing would work. I suspected the switch assembly so I removed it. Its not made to take apart without buggering it up. So I took the air hose and blew air in and around all the buttons. Then I conservatively sprayed a bit of WD 40 around each button and blew more air in real good while working the buttons back and forth. Did this with each button. Put the switch assembly all back in place and all the buttons work just fine with all seat adjustments working like new. I got lucky I suppose just dust etc. on the switch button contacts.

I dint know how the prices compare but I got my seat motors from these guys.

If your motors run then it's the gear that's stripped and they sell just the shaft and metal gears to replace the crap ones.

I'm pretty sure they're who Geno's gets theirs from.
