No, don't figure it's smart to try and stretch it any further on dino oil.

So, after 4 days of hauling and 5 fill ups, the 4 day average for the display is 10.8, math is 10.78. Probably wont do much math anymore, that's crazy accurate.

1810 miles:) After one DEF jug and the gauge is at 5/8's tank, my estimate is about 380 miles per gallon, half empty miles and half towing.

Dang! You ain't playin' around! 1810 miles in 12? Days = 150 miles a day.

That ol' gen 2 is probably feeling awfully neglected right now. Like when a blue tick loses it's master :(

You’ll never accurately guess the DEF consumption guessing at the gauge level and tossing in one jug here and there....

Agree, and 380 mpg is incredibly low which adds to the fact that the only way to accurately determine DEF consumption is to use a DEF pump.

Yeah, there is almost 2 gallons of room ABOVE the 100% mark on the gauge.
If you fill it to the top at a truck stop pump, you will go a very long way before the needle ever moves.

Yes, that's why I said "estimate". I was using the book, it says it holds 5.8 gallons, so, 1/4 is about 1.5 gallons. If the gauge is off and it wasn't full but said it was, then yes I am off, Lol

If you fill it to the top at a truck stop pump, you will get about 6.5 total gallons in there.
I wish the DEF tank was as big as the ford's, it's 7.5 gallons, probably get 8 or over in it if filled all the way up..

My new truck is not a clean as your truck and RV, Dave. I was amazed at how fine they looked!

Nick, I have to admit that you have given me interest in maybe getting a new truck.
I have been over your specs several times and they are almost identical to what I would order. Might add cab lights and heated seats if available with the cloth seating...that’s it..
So taking into account the insane prices for Third Gen 5.9 4X4 Mega Cabs I may consider doing it. Talked with the wife Sunday and no arguments from her so there’s that...:D
Then I’d be all rigged up for retirement with a newer truck....Pros and Cons for sure..

Looking good Nick, a little TLC can go along ways and makes driving it a pleasure.

I always just popped into a WM when my DEF gauge got to 1/2 and added a 2.5 box of Peak Blue. And like pointed out above, you can drive miles upon miles before the gauge comes off full. DEF was a non issue to me.

I agree, your mega cab truck will bring a mint as fine as it is. I do like cab lights and ordered them on my 1970 Ford F-100 4x2 along with Junior Westcoast mirrors:D

The ride is awesome, the front is about like my '01 but the rear is a easy chair. I also like the rear track bar on this truck, way more stable than my '01 leaf springs. When you whip the truck right and left (for fun to see) it will roll right and left but no rear wheel steer. If you encounter a real bad rough spot it will remind you it is still a truck but normal rough stuff it just soaks it up.

Being a big truck driver you will love the auto/exhaust brake combo. You have normal mode, tow/haul mode, full on exhaust brake and automatic. They all have their place and is amazing. It will stop you without brakes, pretty dang quick too.

If you drive one you will be hooked, so there is that:D

The exhaust brake is one of greatest engineering accomplishments ever!
Well, maybe not but it is amazing.

I think I'm going to change mine before leaving on my trip out west, I have 6300 on it now and 1'll then do it again at 15k with the fuel filter service. I never did oil analysis on my 04 in the past ( I just changed it ever 5k / 12mo ).. Do you all use the Fleetgaurd kit (GENOS) or something else, I figure it is good insurance probably to have on hand incase something happens while within my 8/125k MaxCare.

FleetGuard StrataPore is good but Donaldson or AMZ/OIL’s filter made by Donaldson are better.

That's what I bought, LF16035 6 pack from Geno's, I like the candy they send:D The Mopar fuel filters there are high so I got those from Amazon.

I forgot about the Donaldson that some of you guys run, maybe next time.

Dropped the truck off at the dealer this morning @ 08:00, still waiting on a call. I hope it is just freon or something simple, not looking forward to a blend door issue or something inside the heater box....
