Tires / Wheels too big

Before I go out and buy the set I am hoping that somebody is running this tire/wheel set and can tell me if I will have a problem with the fit.

20 Dia. and 10 wide wheel

35 X 12.5 X 20 tire

2 inch leveling kit

2 inch over stock shocks

 

Great news, there is a company by the name of Custom Offsets that maintains a searchable gallery. Simply plug in your truck specs, as well as the wheel and tire size you want to run and you can then search through submitted photos of other trucks matching yours and the specs you provided and see weather they need trimming or not.

From a quick search using your specs, you will need at least a -24mm offset and a 4.6 back spacing.

-24MM Offset will put the tires into the fenders , +18-25mm is ideal for tire fitment.

 

"ideal" is subjective, Looking at it objectively, Problem meant clearance. -24mm with a 4.6BS will clear with his provided wheel and tire dimensions on his suspension setup according to CO. They have a gallery for a reason, and it behooves them to do the math and verify their submissions to the gallery. They're experts at this because they do it day in and day out give them a call if you have questions.

It will rub at full lock on the control arms.
Going off the road it will rub even more when the suspension cycles.

 

If you can absolutely confirm a 35" 12.5 20 on a 20x10 with -24OS and 4.6BS with leveled suspension on an 03-04.5 will rub..... you should've said something sooner. I'll just go look at my generator on 31s and mind my business....

 

Well no offense but I've that truck, that lift and that tires and it rubs. No matter what a computer says about that.
And I answered as soon as I've seen that thread.

 

I take no offense we're just talking specs, numbers don't lie. I have no problem admitting I'm wrong. What are your specs for the dimension of the wheels?

 

18x9 ET+18 now with rubbing the inner fender lightly. Before 35x12.5 on stock rims, rubbed the control arms heavily.
So if someone says he is going to fit rims with a neutral or even negative ET I know he will rub the inner fenders.

 

I agree, 18x9s with +18OS wrapped in 35x12.5s will rub full lock. But I think you're wrong when you say neutral or negative ET will rub in this instance. To go from +18 to -24 is a full 32mm or 1.25" that's not a small amount ( none of us would complain about this additional length). Pushing the wheel out a dollar twenty five away from the hub face changes a good bit of geometry but a 20x10 -24 will clear with a 35x12.5 which is why I asked what setup you were running, If you had the exact same setup and dimensions, It would've been case closed i'd go sit in the back of the trailer.

Dodge trucks are pretty forgiving on fitment compared to Chevys and their square wheel wells.

 

LOL , I deal with these trucks every day too, ones that get used to do more then drive thought a Wal Mart parking lot and anyone that thinks -24mm is in any ideal for anything should not be giving advice online unless someone is asking how to ruin balljoints and front end parts.

 

Firepit rims are very popular in Florida. Ormond Beach had them on all brands.

 

I'm not sure if you understood what was written in the section you quoted from me. No one in this thread said or hinted that -24mm of offset was ideal. The question to answer was clearance, not to chime in on his wheel and tire setup with opinions on what's tasteful or functional.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, when someone asks how to go fast no one is talking about speeding tickets when giving suggestions or advice on how to do it. It'd be nice if we could apply that thought process to all topics regarding vehicles on this forum. Your truck, your wallet. He asked about clearance, period.

The Problem is you take your info from a website whereas we are owning these vehicle and fit those wheels in real life - and they rub, either the control arms with +ET or the fenders with -ET, no matter what you do and how much backspacing or else, they rub.

The information on that website is compiled from owners, just like this information on this this website is compiled by owners. Lets not be hypocrites. You're telling me they don't fit but you don't have the exact same setup. Someone on that site has the exact same setup and the numbers are there for all to see. The whole point of the gallery is to see your exact truck and wheel/tire setup to know what fits and doesn't from other owners experiences. I can eat my words and admit im wrong about something, can you?

 

I just fitted similar on mine, I have 35X12.5 R17s. I am running Pro Comp Alloys, series 01 rims 17x9in (8x165.1mm), I can't seem to find the off-set spec, but they are not same as OEM, tire pushed out by at least an inch. I also put in a 2 inch leveling lift, with Freedom Offroad 1/2" longer control arms... there is a topic on that debacle that would advise against the those arms, because I had to do some crazy work to make them work.. but all that said, I got my set up to clear, with only a minor bit of removal of some of the plastic in the inner fender and lower part of the front bumper. There was minor rubbing at full steering and when the suspension traveled. Without the longer arms, that hitting would have been the rear part of the inner fender. The tires do not hit the arms, which are straight.. but that is likely because of the rim more dished out off-set.

The 35's seem to hit a nice on road RPM with my G56 and 3.73 rear gears. I'm liking the set up so far, but it is a recent addition. Perhaps I'll put up a post on topic.
