My 97 12 valve, California truck, EGR Tube has a hole in it. None of the normal parts house have one, the Dodge dealer says they are discontinued. So, what am I supposed to do? I was thinking of taking it to a muffler shop and have them weld a new tube in. Any suggestions?

Dodge dealer says there are none nation wide. Cummins wants my engine serial Number. Its hard to see, stuff in the way. Getting out the bore scope tomorrow maybe I can read with it. Or I might just make a plate and block it off. They don't do smog checks on the 12 valve engines.

No smog checks for any vehicle made in 1997 or earlier. All vehicles made in 1998 or later are required to have semi annual smog checks. Exception! > Some counties who do not require a semi annual smog check except when vehicle is being registered in county for the first time. California changed the law to make for $$, it used to be 20 years or older & no smog check required. Now the cut off year is 1997 or earlier, period!
I have a 1998 12 valve and have to get one every other year, it is just another way to get $$$.

You could just delete it like I did. Got the information from another forum how to keep the SES light off after deleting the system.
Or repair it. I still have my tube around here somewhere (if I can find it) and would sell it to you, off my 98.
