My power steering pump is leaking bad at the pump resovoir connection. I attempted the o ring repair however I was not able to remove the lower t30 torx bolt as it came in contact with the puley. Anyone have this issue with this repair?

The shop manual says to remove the pulley from the pump to get the torx bolt out. I pulled the entire pump/reservoir unit from the truck so I could work on it on my bench. I did not have the correct tool to remove the pulley and after trying a couple of pullers I had in my tool box I still could not get the pulley off the pump. I ended up taking a Dremel with a cut off disk and sliced off the side of the torx bolt. Not enough to get in to the torx bit area but enough to clear the pulley. When I put the reservoir back on I used a stainless washer under the cut torx bolt. The new O rings worked great. No leaks, not much money.

I thought I would have to remove the pulley or the pump to get the bolt out. Thanks.

Both of my bolts came out from the rear. The pulley was not a factor.
