Casey, I reckon I'll just decal the stock. I would have loved to have the entire stock covered with an American Flag. The only addition would be the Marine Corps Emblem on the off side of the butt from the cheek piece. I am not able to swing that so I'll just have to punt:-laf, Improvise, adapt and overcome:D. Ooohrah:cool:. In full battle dress, you wont see the patriotism, anyway:-laf
You mentioned that yer a "poor farm boy". I dont think so. A Man that can handle business as well as you from many different angles certainly has my respect. I took off on my own, after Vietnam and tried many things but failed in most. Even went to Alaska lookin fer work. Bad timing on that one too:o!Nobody can say I did not try, I just did not try the right combination:D. Anyway GOD is FAITHFUL and MERCIFUL to this poor sinner. I'm still tryin, hopefully I'll find the right combination to leave for my family as a legacy. It may not be what I think it should be! Only the LORD knows that oneOo.! GregH

Now, don't forget, McMillan will be more than happy to paint it for you, if you wanted. They're kinda high, but it carries the same warranty as the stock..... I'm actually a dealer for McMillan Stocks. I usually only sell what I build on, but occasionally I'll get an order for custom stocks and such. They're just so dang high. Most of my rifles appear more like an M-40 than anything else! To quote an old man I met once, "It's all in the assembly, son." Any ideas on sourcing the decals? I know many vinyl and t-shirt shops make those decals fairly cheap. I've got a guy in that makes the ones for my trucks and projects I have in mind. Made me some one year of Mickey Mouse, flipping the bird, saying, "Next time, leave a can opener, A**hole!" They were about a foot across, and fit nicely on windshields in the driver's field of view. Hard as hell to get off, too. I used to get a great many, VARIED, responses to them, HA!! I've grown up some since then, thank GOD!!

Casey, I hope your stock transport went well. Them critters can cause alot of headache. I grewup on a subsistence farm in old West Virginia. I understand about that wear and tear. My Grandfather and one Uncle lived long but the worked very hard on their farms all their lives. They could hardly get around, but still constantly pushed their limits till they died, far up into their 90's. I've been workin on a M-40 with some artistic license. I fired one in Vietnam. It was not my T.O. Weapon. However, it fit like a glove and always wanted to build one for hunting and target shooting. The stock is a McMillan. I ask for a red, white, blue color cast in but it did not come out like I had hoped. I need some motorcycle gas tank decals of the Stars and Stripes to dress it up. Still workin on the barrel finish and a burr that I have in the chamber.
Been moving more of Moms stuff and found a buyer for her trailer. The LORDS provision, to be sure. Write when you have time. GregH

Casey, Went over to Gene Rogers, yesterday. I had hoped to do some work on spurs, however Gene was not feelin to well so we just visited. I did mention to him about Blind Bobby and he said YES! He KNEW him. Told me a story about how Bobby uses his senses of feel and smell to detect fake indian leather work. Great way to keep your hand in things!
Been really busy moving my Mom, she just turned 98 and we are trying to sell her trailer. It has been hectic and heartbreaking at the same time.
Want to talk more about metallurgy and barrel work. I would like to share some pictures of a project that has been going on for a few years. Nothing extreme, just a dream I had and it is finally coming together, albeit, very slowly. Have a great weekend and LORDS DAY! In Christ, GregH

The blue oval trucks are okay units, once you get a good powertrain under 'em.... But really, I prefer the Red Oval trucks, or the ones with the shiny KW initials.... and forgive me TDR, but I DO so like the yellow painted engines..... :D
Whatever makes money.... Gotta have it for a set of tires every 20k or so.... and some new filters.

    trucks, firearms, horsepower.
