Harvey, since you like bikes as much as I do, I thought you may be interested that I just picked up a good, used Suzuki VStrom 650. This bike is an absolute blast to ride!
If you ever get a chance to take one for a ride, take it! I would classify it as 3/4 street bike, 1/4 dual purpose. Everybody that has one raves about it, and now I know why. A great companion for the Goldwing, lots of comfort, really good wind protection, super soft suspension, powerful enough motor...just a blast!
      Thought you'ld like to know...

      Harvey,

Thanx for the reported post. I saw your first report and chose not to move it as I had no way of knowing if it was a PU or CC. In any event, folks were responding to his problem in a positive way and I thought it best to let it ride.

      Have a Merry Christmas!

      Harvey,
Can you please tell me the key on-off sequence to pull up codes? It would be greatly appreciated.

      Harvey,

I have a 2005 ford X with the 6.0 in it and 155,000 miles on it only had to put 2,500 dollars into this unit besides tires and oil.

I tried to go through dodge to ge the problem address and I got run around I cannot afford to have a truck that breaks down everytime I go on the road with it. The engine is great the parts around the engine is lacking. I would not buy a GM the engines are real bad pistons are breaking in them now.

I will keep you post on the new truck and how it is perfroming or not.

      Take care my friend

      Hi Harvey,

I,m in Frisco, Co on my way back from Vandenberg AFB, Ca. The truck started having few more problems and I have decide to trade it in a new Ford, F350 srw.
I do not think the new dodge trucks are up to more than shopping trips. The truck has only 45,000 miles on it and the clutch is acting up again. the trans is having issues and the rear end is making noise.

I’m in Colorado near Silverthorne the front driver side universal joint gave out and the front seal on the transfer case. The truck has 41,200 miles on it.
The Dodge dealer (Vista Dodge ) here has been very helpful in getting the truck back together. The interesting thing I found out is there is a major backorder for the universal joints over four hundred are on order.
If everything goes well today I will have my truck back by the end of the day.
I have not used the 4X4 very much this truck has mainly been on the road truck.

      Hello Harvey,
I have a question for you, I am possibly going be moving to the Dallas TX area soon and will be looking for work. I have a 2010 Ram 3500 that I would like to put to work if there is any good work to be had. I am single and totally mobile, so I guess I would like to know is there still money to be made in the Hotshot hauling business? If so what is a better route, RVs or hauling oil equipment? If either of those can make me some money, what kind of returns could I expect and do you know of any good companies to contact?
Thank you kindly for your time,
      Brett

      Don,

IMO that person is talking nonsense. Typical fuel island bull**** artist like many we have all run across from time to time.

I honestly don't know what fuel mileage my ISB6.7 gets. I have never hand calculated it because it is what it is and it is nothing to brag about. I figure it gets about 14 to 16 running light on the highway (I routinely drive at 74 mph in a 70 speed limit) and around 9.5 to 10.5 loaded with my 14k fiver. That is just based on glancing at the overhead computer and estimating that the overhead always exaggerates a bit on the positive side.

      Good Morning Harvey,

What type of MPG are you getting? The guy over on the 4 gen fourm is stateing 25 plus out of his 2500. The best mpg my 3500 is 17 mpg and thats doing the 55 mph and being empty.

Hope you have a great day.

I will reiterate what A clayton said you are far more educated and opnionated about all aspects of Dodge CTD and RV products most importantly tires especially puny ones on a loaded Forest river toy hauler. I truly await your next words of wisdom with breathless anticipation. Please come back on line and share more wisdom.

      Harvey,

I will not get involved in any more of the arguments or debates you have with other members. It is truly none of my business and it only makes me look like the jerk who calls out on it.I have nothing but respect for you and truly classify you as one of the most valuable posters on this site.It is obvious you are opinionated and educated far beyond me in Politics and that is what I learn from you the most....sometimes I don't even bother listening to the news or picking up the paper because I feel the facts are posted on this website.

Evidently,I mis-judged you on the post about Gary this morning and am man-enough to apologize to you....and will do it on-line if need be.I have no agenda to discredit you simply because we did not agree on the gas engine debate. You have an opinion and I do....we wil leave it at that.

      MCherry,

I'm sorry, I must have been unclear. I have a camper shell I'll give away to a TDR mmeber. Sorry, don't have a pickup bed or tailgate. Harvey

I saw one of your posts about having a bed off a 2nd gen truck. I don't need a bed but I do need a tailgate for a 2001 2500 truck. Do you have/would you sell just the tailgate? Or if not do you have a lead on one?

The tailgate on my silver 2001 got dinged when my fairly short daughter couldn't see over the cross-bed toolbox and backed into a small tree.

      Newt,

I'm sorry, Newt, I didn't realize you had sent this. Yes, I do still do it occasionally for family members but quit doing it for a company at the end of 2007.

As a matter of fact, I'm going down to Lamesa, TX on Thursday to pick up my old Travel Supreme, now owned by my son-in-law, and take it to another job site in Abilene. I love transporting and it gives me something to do occasionally.

Since I failed to notice this message or reply you may have already found a solution but if you are still interested in this one or a future one, e-mail me @ [email protected].

The wife and I are taking off this coming Saturday, June 27th for a two week RVing vacation but will be back home on Saturday July 11th.

If you need my assistance let me know.

There's a Snowbird in PA I'm thinking about buying. Do you still do that? Or could you suggest someone? I need to get it to Angleton Tx. I would find a good buy on a trailer before I have something to tow it with.

      Part II.

I think the Alpenlite plant is closed now, right?

My advice to RV buyers is if you have a budget limit as most of us do, buy the best quality trailer you can afford, used if necessary, instead of a new but cheap, flimsy brand. Quality lasts, new does not. Glitz and glitter is cheap and doesn't compensate for poor construction, inadequate insulation, etc.

The brand you choose should take into consideration how you will use it. I prefer well insulated winter/summer comfort over light weight.

Thank you sincerely for the compliment. I love the TDR, Dodge-Cummins trucks, and RVing. It's a perfect connection for an opinionated old guy like me. I **** off a few but many recognize I'm trying to be helpful and tell them the truth as I understand it.

      Jesse,

Sorry I didn't see your inquiry until, by accident, this morning.

No, I've not had any experience with Alpenlites but the brand is familiar. I think they were built around Yakima, WA and were popular and common on the west coast. My impression is they are good, well-built units but I don't actually know anything specific about them.

HH's are great units and the new retail prices are going to be cut drastically when the new models are introduced. It will be a good time to buy one. If you consider a NuWa HitchHiker, please ask me about the Young's frame. Some models are now built on cheap, flimsy, failure prone Lippert frames and problems are showing up. Try reading on the NuWa Owner's Forum or ask, I'll answer if you are interested.

Harvey, I know that you like your HH 5th wheel. We are considering buying one when the new 2010 models are available. When you were pulling RVs did you have any experience with Alpenlite? We presently have a 2002 Alpenlite 32 RK. Can you compare the HH and the Alpenlite for quality, fit and finish, features, etc? Which tires do you have. Did you get disc brakes?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

      God bless and Semper Fi.

      Jesse Aird

P.S. You and EB are two of the best writers on the TDR forum.
