By Robin Patton | Published Yesterday | Miscellaneous Rants and Insights | Unrated
Well, Valentine's Day is upon you guys and gals. And based on the responses you posted to the, "And then the fight began . . ." contest, you are just full of advice to insure a great relationship with your wife (husband), etc.   Here is your chance to give a bit of advice and perhaps win a FASS Titanium System for your own personal Valentine's Day gift.

Well, one Geno's Garage staff member (who will remain nameless) just went and got engaged! Can you believe it? Come to think of it, another Geno's Garage staff member is engaged and a third one just got married. Must be in the water?

So, post your very best advice to these guys (yep, they are all three guys). And that simple gesture will get you registed in the FASS for FREE February Contest.

If you can't come up with any advice, just post your name, but put your flame suit on if you can't come up with anything.

Just think, the guys at Geno's get some advice for keeping their significant others' happy, and you get a Valentine's gift of a free, top-of-the-line FASS Titanium fuel system.

Just to get you motivated, cruise on over to the FASS website and take a look at those fuel pumps:

» Cummins Announces Multiyear Agreement With Crysler Group, LLC
By Robert Patton | Published 02/5/2010 | Press Releases | Unrated
COLUMBUS, Ind. (Feb. 3, 2010) – Cummins Inc. today announced a multiyear extension of its current agreement with Chrysler Group LLC. Cummins will supply 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel engines for Ram Heavy Duty pickups and Chassis Cab trucks while continuing to grow its partnership with Chrysler, which began 21 years ago.

Cummins has produced over 1.7 million Cummins Turbo Diesel engines for Dodge  Ram Heavy Duty trucks since 1989. Today, over 80 percent of Ram Heavy Duty truck customers purchase their truck with the legendary Cummins Turbo Diesel.

The first Cummins Turbo Diesel was used in the 1989 Dodge Ram, with projected sales of less than 5,000 engines. Actual sales exceeded 20,000 engines in the first year, signaling to the market that a powerful new combination had been created.

The first Cummins Turbo Diesel was a 5.9 liter at 160 hp (119 kW) and 400 lb-ft (542 N•m) of torque. Today’s 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel delivers 350 hp (261 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 N•m) of torque. This 118 percent increase in horsepower and 86 percent increase in torque have been achieved while also reducing exhaust emissions by 90 percent. In 2007, Dodge and Cummins produced the cleanest heavy-duty diesel pickup in the market by meeting U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2010 emissions levels a full three years in advance.

“Cummins and Chrysler have a long and important history together,” said Dave Crompton, VP and General Manager, Midrange Engine Business. “The Chrysler business continues to be a key part of our MidRange engine business. Cummins is proud to supply engines for the award-winning Ram Heavy Duty and to continue working with Chrysler to develop best-in-class products that customers can trust and depend on now and in the future.”

About Cummins.  Cummins Inc., a global power leader, is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems. Headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, (USA) Cummins
serves customers in approximately 190 countries and territories through a network of more than 500 company-owned and independent distributor locations and approximately 5,200 dealer locations. Cummins reported net income of $428 million on sales of $10.8 billion in 2009. Press releases can be found on the Web at www.cummins.com or everytime.cummins.com.

» TDR 2010 Florida Snowbirds Rally - February 10, 2010
By Robin Patton | Published 01/25/2010 | TDR - Chapter Events | Unrated

WHEN: Wednesday February 10, 2010

WHERE: Honda of Winter Haven, 3699 U.S.17 North, Winter Haven, FL.

WHAT: A one day rally beginning at 11 A.M. and ending at 3 P.M. with individual lunches at a local restaurant.

BRING: A lawn chair for each attendee, as the dealership will not have chairs for us all. We will meet outdoors if the weather is nice.
We will gather to visit with old friends and meet new ones at Honda of Winter Haven, a Honda Powersports dealer, meaning that they sell and service new and used Honda Motorcycles, Motor Scooters, ATV s, and the Honda Generator line. This facility was picked (and the price is right) after many of you expressed a desire at last year’s gathering to have a meeting place out of inclement weather. This major Powersports dealership has ample parking and both a covered outdoor area and an indoor area we can use if needed.

Honda of Winter Haven is located on U.S. 17 North on the northern edge of Winter Haven, approximately one mile south of the intersection of U.S.92 and U.S. 17. Upon your arrival, please park at the northern end of the parking lot so as to leave the main parking area in front of the building open for their customers.

Following our usual format, we’ll gather and greet from 11 A.M. until 12 noon, then go eat lunch, then return for a meeting, show-‘n-tell, and technical discussions. There will also be some giveaway stuff, too. Winter Haven Dodge has kindly agreed to show us a 2010 heavy duty truck if available. These trucks with the new body styling are just now coming into dealers.

Please reply by email if you can attend. If you have any questions, please email me or call me at 1-865-310-1512.

I look forward to seeing you then!

» July 4 Kitsap Diesel Rally was a Blast - Bremerton, Washington (2009)
By Robin Patton | Published 09/25/2009 | TDR - Chapter Events | Unrated
This year’s 4th of July Kitsap Diesel Rally was a blast! The turnout was smaller than we’ve had at previous events due to the holiday weekend, but those who were there had a lot of fun.

Of course the Dodge trucks outnumbered other brands (go Cummins!), but we did have several Duramaxes and Powerstrokes as well. TDR provided very nice Show-n-Shine plaques for Best Dodge Cummins, Best Ford Powerstroke, Best Chevy Duramax, Best Alternative Diesel, Best in Show, and People’s Choice. Geno’s Garage also gave several door prizes and a $50 gift certificate; great support for the Cummins folks!

We had several entries for the chili competition, with ribbons through 3rd place and a gift certificate sponsored by Minder Meats of Bremerton, WA. Everyone got plenty to eat with potluck in addition to chili.

B&B Landscaping brought one of their dump trucks loaded with sand, and we had an informal pull. It was great to see our “little” diesels tugging that big rig with sand flying!

The band, Knucklehead, played late into the night and really rocked! A fun group of guys with talent to spare, they took requests from Skynard to Zeppelin and kept us dancing.

Thanks to all participants and sponsors! We look forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better.

» May Madness 2010 (April 26 - May 1, 2010) - Pahrump, NV
By Robin Patton | Published 08/16/2009 | Events - General Diesel | Unrated
The Sixteenth Annual Turbo Diesel Register (TDR) Western Regional Rally, “May Madness,” [MM ’10] will be held April 26 - May 1, 2010 in Pahrump, Nevada. All brands of diesel trucks will be welcome. Most events will be held at Saitta-Trudeau Dodge, at the nearby Pahrump Nugget (the host hotel), and at Preferred RV (the host RV Park).

The rally will again include the vendors’ “Hall of Gottahavits,” technical talks, safety and recreational vehicle related seminars, and drag racing. There will be a Best Dressed, Show-n-Shine truck contest, and a Ram Rodeo with a Ram roundup for all attendees. At the awards banquet on Saturday evening, we expect to give away over $5,000 in prizes in random-drawings.

Attendees should plan and conduct your own "tours" of Pahrump and Vegas Valley attractions. Brochures will be available when you register. Among the notable places to visit are the Pahrump winery, the China Ranch date farm, and Death Valley. Some of these tours will require admission fees to be paid by the participants and each participant will pay for individual activities such as the entrance fee at the Speedway, fees for museums, etc. That way you pay only for what you want to attend.

The Pahrump Nugget (866-751-6500; www.pahrumpnugget.com) is the host hotel and is recently re-modeled. It is conveniently located in the center of Pahrump and close to Saitta-Trudeau Dodge. The banquet, Vendors’ Hall of Gottahavits, and Vendors’ Friday-Saturday Seminar series will be held at the Nugget. Hotel rate will be $70 ($80 weekend).

The host RV Park is Preferred RV Resort (800-445-7840; www.preferredrv.com). This RV Park is across the side street from the Pahrump Nugget. They are once again giving us the special rate of $15.49 including tax. Be sure to tell them you are with “MAY MADNESS.” They have both back-in and pull-through spaces. Their clubhouse holds 130 people and will be the site for the seminars up through Thursday.

Other options include the Best Western Hotel and RV Park (775-727-5100), and Saddle West Hotel/Casino/RV Park (800-433-3987, www.saddlewest), both in Pahrump.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to register early so we can plan appropriately. We need a good idea of how many will participate because we have to guarantee numbers for the hotel, banquet, etc.

For additional information (including vendor space and special accommodations), contact Joe Donnelly at (505) 858-1966 (phone) or Donnellyj@msn.com (e-mail).

Chrysler Introduces New ‘Best-in-Industry’ Lifetime Powertrain Warranty
on Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge Vehicles

The New Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty – the first from an OEM and the longest in the industry – is a statement of confidence in the reliability of Chrysler products.

Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system.

Provides worry-free ownership for new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge owners.

Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler today announced that the Company would extend its powertrain warranty from the 3-year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty to a new Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty applies to most new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles purchased from dealer inventory and delivered on or after July 26, 2007.

The Lifetime Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system. The new powertrain warranty is limited to the first registered owner or retail lessee. Customers should contact dealers for details on vehicle selection.

“This new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is a statement of confidence to our customers to the reliability of their powertrain. It’s peace-of-mind reassurance for as long as they own the vehicle,” said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President – North America, Sales and Marketing, Service and Parts, Chrysler Group.

To continue warranty coverage, the owner must have a powertrain inspection performed by an authorized Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer once every 5 years. This inspection will be performed at no charge. The inspection must be made within 60 days of each 5-year anniversary of the warranty start date of the vehicle.

Landry added, “The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty underscores our focus on quality and customer satisfaction. It demonstrates our commitment to customers and the confidence we have in our ability to produce quality, reliable and durable vehicles. That’s why we put ‘lifetime’ on it.”

Customers may visit Chrysler.com, Jeep.com and Dodge.com for more information. A warranty promotion – print, radio, television and Internet – begins Friday, July 27.

PLEASE NOTE: *See dealer for a copy of limited warranty and details. Non-Transferable. Not available on SRT, Diesel vehicles, Sprinter, Ram Chassis Cab, and certain fleet vehicles.
